What I enjoyed most about playing Pokemon Go was that I logged almost 5,000 measures while playing. Yes, people do get a significant amount of exercise while playing. But, individuals are still glued to their phones, obsessively staring at their telephone display looking for the next Pokemon.

For the past week or so, all I 've seen on social media websites are folks posting about playing Pokemon Go. As the keen writer, I am, I desired to write an article about it. But of course, that would mean I would have to play. I did not desire to play this Pokemon game. I have never once in my life had the desire to play anything that's to do with Pokemon. For the benefit of this post, though, I pitched all of those thoughts aside and walked around for an hour and a half attempting to figure out this Pokemon craze.

The Pokemon card game is really popular with kids. You may not believe that that has anything at all to do with robots, but if you let your sense go a little 'fuzzy' I believe we can see robotic theories in all life- that in fact machines were meant to replace things humans do and robot 'humanizes' the machine even more because of more extensive parameters. So we can speak of a baseball player as a robot (pitches this speedy, had this many hits, weighs this much, is this tall, etc.) and trade cards. Likewise, we get the stats on a Pokemon, and it is rather like a robot. But that's not so in the imagination. In the imagination it's something living. And if we do something to it like allow it to be shiny (gleaming daikon cards), it becomes even more valuable and alive. But the bottom line truth to all computer games is that they're robots. The question is this then: in a networking game like Second Life are you a robot?

It just doesn't make lots of sense to me how intense people got when I played. It's almost like the hundreds of individuals in downtown Springfield, Missouri, had seen a tweet saying, "There're a thousand dollars someplace downtown, go find it!" or "Beyonce is in downtown Springfield. Go find her!" Because all of a sudden, I Had see a group of four adolescent boys running down the street, telephones in hand. Clearly, no. Those lads were not after cash or Beyonce. They were not after anything concrete, anything with an actual reward or result, for that matter.

If the dream behind a game is strong enough, it can lead to spinoffs. Conversely, something that is popular like Ultraman can result in a game. But games normally remain games and playthings stay toys. Pokemon has seen very great spinoff (though it is not taking the world by storm) because of its intriguing theory.

I started by walking around downtown Springfield, Missouri, with a buddy. My friend is quite into Pokemon Go. He has spent the last week walking around parks and sites throughout the city trying to catch strange virtual creatures. He tried to teach me how.

The imagination is a funny thing. Geeks design and fight their 'bots' with a very powerful ego: they designed the robot; they are matching their skill against their competition's. When a assumption, or story, is put into a game that all changes. Pokemon are robots to be sure, but the user didn't design them- computer game geeks did. So it becomes a fantasy world where the object is really to get the greatest Pokemon that one can use it 'feature' to the best of one's ability. When losing, one can nearly believe that the Pokemon let him down, wasn't powerful enough, or whatever. He may blame himself partially, but not fully.

Pokemon fans throughout the world may shun me, but my conclusion is that I still don't understand the craze. I don't comprehend how folks do not get bored with it after a few minutes and how they get so enthusiastic about comical-looking characters on an app. I don't comprehend why anyone would spend time on something foolish like Pokemon Go. That said, it is not my place to tell the world to cease doing what they love. If you need to play, then play. But I, for one, will not.

If a Pokemon appears, you have to throw a virtual Poke Ball at it to get it. Then you certainly walk and walk and walk some more to get more Pokemon. Seemingly, you occasionally can steal Pokemon from others and have battles with other users too. That part is over my head.

Not many are conscious of this possibly (or perhaps you are!) but almost every computer game we play is an application of robotic applications technology. That is, the icons you see, and play are program settings with set parameters. It cannot go beyond those parameters just because that's the limitation of its programming. Very often, in fact, 'upgrading' doesn't include adding a new function to an existing thing, but instead merely replacing it in its entirety and downloading its memory from the game's database.
